freelee: the best way is to ... okay, firstlyyou got to be patient, okay? and not focus on losing weight. that might sound crazy ifyou want to lose weight you should focus on it. but, no, it's not true. don't focus onit. focus on getting healthier and fitter, that's what i did. earlier on i was focusing on weight, and itwasn't happening. but as soon as i focused on health and fitness then everything startedto happen. and it's very, very important if you want to stay on the lifestyle long enoughto lose the weight, you need to eat enough calories. and i say it all the time, overand over again. people like, "oh, my god she's talking about calories again." but seriouslyyou need to know how much calories you're

eating especially as a newbie, especiallyif you want to stay on track long enough to lose the weight. so i recommend a minimum of 2500 caloriesa day for women and 3000 a day for men, especially as a newbie, okay? and that's how i lose theweight. it's taken me years, it's come off gradually but now it's staying off, it's notcoming back. john kohler: so now we're here with tim vanorden, runningraw.com is his website, into raw foods for 9 years. tim van orden: best way to lose weight. mostpeople think that exercising is how you lose weight. exercise is a very small affect onweight lose. the main benefit of exercise

is to change the way you metabolize differentsugars. but it really doesn't burn as many calories as you need to burn to lose a lotweight. so the best way to lose weight especiallyon raw food diet is to eat whole fresh produce, lots of fruit. and if you happen to be exercisingyou're going to metabolize those sugars in a very healthy way and you're going to losea lot of weight very quickly. so stay away from refined foods. there's nothingwrong with sugar if it's in fruit, if it's still on a whole food. it's only when youtake it out and you separate it, it becomes a problem. so you don't have to worry about carbs, "i'meating too many carbs. the atkins people told

me i shouldn't eat carbs, they're bad." refinedflower, refine starches, refined sugars, those are bad. best way to lose weight is to eat clean wholefoods. it's simple. eat as many as you want, you'll still lose weight. john kohler: alright, so now we're with danmcdonald, aka dtm, dan the man. lifegenerator on youtube. go check his channel out there.he's been into raw foods for the last 13 years. dan mcdonald: cool, man. that's my specialty.i've helped a quite a few people dump a lot of weight. and one of the things ... we knowthat the linear data is, eat the raw food, the fruits and the vegetables. now of course,as someone who's overweight is about more

than that. there's not just, "oh, okay, i'mgoing to eat fruits and vegetables. no problem." now, there are people that do, do that. theymake that decision, it's like life or death. there are 500 pounds. they're hearts reallygoing to blow out of their chest, and the doctor says, "you got a week to live." theyfind my videos. they call me. i say, "you need to just go to your fridge. throw everythingaway and go to the store and eat organic fruits, vegetables, juices, smoothies, and salads.you get on a hundred percent raw right now." there are people that do that. they are thefolks that generally lose a pound a day in the very beginning. but now aside from the fruits and vegetablesand the mineralization and the hydration and

the conductivity that comes, that starts tobreak up the debris. and you need to go slow. you might need to use steamed vegetables atfirst, because it can get ... you know, you've got a lot of stuff sitting in there and thejuices will ferment and rancidify. so you got to go slow on this weight lose thing. but the under other lying issues ... there's2 things i want to discuss and that is releasing crap out of your life. just clean up the magazinesthat had been sitting there, the old junk, the nick knacks, the energy that's accumulatedin your house, in your life is a reflection of what's accumulated inside of you, and youcan go from the outside in, in the inside out.

so start cleaning the inside out with theraw foods and the clean foods and flushing the system with the juices is my favoritethings, lots and lots of juice to get those minerals in there, to get that water in theirand to start flushing out the debris and toxins which you're holding onto energetically. andthen it's come in a reflection in your life and there's like a pack rat mentality withthe people that are generally over weight, they're holding onto stuff. and that's theother thing too. but at the deepest levels we want to really start working on the emotionaltraumas, why are we always eating so much? what are we afraid of? are we afraid of beingthere with ourselves all our trauma? you know, so really, to learn how to loseweight, you need to learn to sit there with

that sadness, with that broken heart, withthat you were teased, or you were traumatized and one way or another is generally the case,there's boredom issues, anything to avoid being there with that lonely emptiness, butthat's what we really all need to do. even the skinny people that are trying to gainweight, and anybody who's trying to feel better about their life, we all need to be okay,sitting there with those places in ourselves that we're not comfortable with. and that'sgoing to be the biggest thing with weight lose. and also in diseases or weight lose or anytype of life improvement, what are you going to do with your life? what do you want todo? what makes you excited? what makes you

happen? i had a dream the other night thati was paralyzed and god said, "what would you do? i'll let you do the couple of thethings that you wanted to do. now that you're paralyzed i'll let you have a day off, takea couple of things you want to do." and i know what those things were, you know,there was ... number one was make love, and number two was ride my bike and i'm paralyzedin this dream, you know. and of course that day i woke up and did those things, you know. and ever since then i've been ... ever sincethen i've been focusing on just thinking that way. like if i was paralyzed that would reallysuck. so if you're overweight ... you got your 2 legs. most of you watching you haveyour 2 legs, you have your 2 arms, your heart's

still beating, you got your lungs. you goteverything you need, now you just ... like i can't say it in one video to love yourself.there's no way. i have to say it in every single video until it pounds in and poundedinto myself. you got to find a way to love yourself andbe okay. and it's really about self-acceptance. and i'm doing the same thing, oh, mr. perfect,whatever. some people might see that. but no, we're all trying to get more comfortablein our skin. so we're all trying to work on that love and that self-acceptance. so ifyou eat the raw foods, and you start getting rid of stuff, the people out of your life,they're sucking you dry, and the junk in your life that you haven't used in 6 years andit's collecting dust, and the stagnated emotions

and the traumas, and forgiving those peoplethat hurt and finding it, locating it with awareness. the raw foods will bring in more awareness,as soon as you get rid of ... more of the drug foods. you're not going to get over itovernight, usually some people do though. so get on the raw foods, let go and work onthat self-acceptance, and go into those uncomfortable places in yourself and this is for everybodywho's ... weight lose or not, wanting to have a happier, more full life, and sit there withthose uncomfortable things and be okay with that. like learn to process those sensationsand i call that the fusion. you sit there. if you avoid it, it builds.it builds, it builds, it builds. if you sit

there with it like this is really uncomfortable.i'm afraid to feel my feelings. but if you sit there with that it will diffuse and slowlybut surely fear will be let go on. and then you can begin to have more control and powerover your life by choosing what i say and i'll let you go with this cause i know weneed to keep this short, but you know, i say, "go into those feelings," and say, when you'rebored say, "i want to feel what it's like to be deathly bored." you don't want to belike halfway bored, or halfway afraid. you want to feel fear at the depths. and you say,"give me more fear. i want to feel it." and then what happens? you become in control. i don't want to feel fear. you're trying topush it away, eat it away, hump it away, smoke

it away, entertain it away, but you can'tdo that because it's in there. so go into it and then ask for more and then you becomethe one in control and that makes you feel good and then you're the one who is ... thefear is not controlling, you're controlling the fear by asking for me, then you becomethe power, you become the space. and then that begins the process of letting go andthen you can become free and happy. we all deserve to be happy. the overweight,that's a real special thing, because they're hiding and it's sad. they're hiding from theirself. and it's okay to be yourself and whatever happen to you. i'm sorry, but you know, justknow that people do care and you can change your life and you do deserve to live and behappy and smile and feel free in your body.

so just let that weight go and live your life,because life is so precious and only when it's gone that's when we're going to wakeup and say, "shoot, i should have went to hawaii. i should have went for that walk.i should have..." so don't be living a life of should have and go out and live today.and if you can only walk half a block, have so much fun walking that half a block thatyou can't wait till tomorrow cause you'll be able to walk a block tomorrow. i've worked with people that could only walkhalf a block and back to their mailbox. but now they walk 2 miles a day, 5 miles, theirup to 10 miles, losing that weight, losing that weight, losing that weight, and feelingthemselves with the light of their own life.

megan elizabeth: i think the best way is probablyto start to develop a healthier relationship with food. a lot of us are overweight becausewe have an unhealthy relationship or we're just eating things that are not nutrient dense,and so we have to eat too much of it. and when you go into a raw food diet, you're eatingthe best, most healthy food you can be eating if you're eating a lot of fruits and vegetables. and i think the best thing you can do is tostart to work on some of the emotional issues maybe that you had with food that you gotyou to the place you're at before, because i think that it is possible to gain or loseweight on almost any type of diet depending on what your mindset is.

raw foods is the best and the easiest i think,because it's your natural diet. but a healthy mindset towards food that doesn't lead toover eating i think is really key. john kohler: so now we're here with dr. samuelmielcarski. it's drsampt.com. he's been to raw foods for the last 15 years now. dr. samuel mielcarski: best way to lose weighton raw foods is to make sure that you keep raw food as one of the many factors of healthyin your overall what i term "chain of health" and when you don't lose sight of that thenyou focus on health as opposed to weight lose, you'll be at your ideal weight. the bottom line is mother nature is not prejudice.so if you follow the rules you're going to

get the results you want and as it pertainsto weight lose, it's no different. the real key is to focus on building better healthand not on losing weight. so don't starve yourself. just eat correctly. john kohler: so now we're with don bennettd.a.s. his website is health101.org. he's been into a raw fruit based diet for over20 years now. don bennett: best way to lose weight on rawfoods diet is number one, you have to know what you're supposed to weigh. if you don'tknow what you're supposed to weigh, how you're going to know when you've gotten there. youdon't want to go pass it, you don't want to be above it. so you got to find out what yourset weight is, your ideal weight.

and then you're going to find out how manycalories it's going to take to keep you at something like that, and then you want tobe active enough towards eating enough food to have that many calories. now, that's oneof my answer. part 2, is your weight is largely controlledby your metabolism, right? some people have high metabolism like me. i can eat 8 millioncalories and never be able to have 135. that's the way i was. some people look at a photoof a chocolate cake and gain 5 pounds. and so, you know, your metabolism can be differentgenetically, but there's also a nutritional component, and that's iodine. iodine affectsyour thyroid big time and your thyroid is in control of your weight, your metabolismi should say.

and so if you're having trouble losing weight,it could be because you have a slower than normal for you metabolism and that's becauseyou're iodine-deficient. so you should have your iodine checked. unfortunately, not alot of labs do it. you need to get a health practitioner like myself to get the righttest for 24 hour iodine loading test so you could see if your thyroid is operating properly.and if it isn't you're not going to get to your proper weight. or if you do, you're gettingto it abnormally, you don't want to do that either. john kohler: so now we're with dr. doug graham.his website is foodnsport.com, and he's been into raw foods for 35 years now.
